ASHRAE Kuwait Chapter  

Chartered on April 13, 1996, is the country’s foremost technical society in the fields of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration. It’s one of the bodies of ASHRAE Inc. founded in 1894, an international organization of 55,000 persons, situated in the United States of America. Its main idea is to keep indoor environments safe and productive while protecting and preserving the outdoors for generations to come. Its topics of interest are indoor air quality, protecting the environment, conservation of energy, and many more. ASHRAE’s members are volunteer individuals from different private and government sectors. Its volunteer members set standards for design and testing. It provides educational programs to the public and to the members. ASHRAE Kuwait Chapter is operating under the umbrella of Kuwait University, Mechanical Engineering Department. Up today, its members exceeded 129 Engineers from different HVAC&R industries, ministries and consultant companies.

As a part of its long term planning policy, ASHRAE Kuwait Chapter have set a mission to advance the arts and sciences of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and related human factors to serve the evolving needs of the public and ASHRAE members in Kuwait, and a vision to be the leader in the arts and sciences of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration in Kuwait, to be the foremost, authoritative, timely and responsive source of technical and educational information, Standards and guidelines in Kuwait and the primary provider of opportunity for professional growth. This will enhance Kuwait Chapter to provide comprehensive education programs that enhances opportunity for professional growth and responds to current and emerging Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating issues. These objectives must be attainable, assignable and measurable.

For every objective, there is an action plan to achieve it. In regards to this ASHRAE Kuwait Chapter emphasizes on increasing the membership of the Chapter by attracting new members, who will take an active part in the activities of the Chapter. This is done by broadening the type of membership from all segments of industry, looking for benefits and preferences to the members, and establishing Student Branches under the sponsorship of the Chapter. It also has an aim to Improve the Profession by Setting Standard and Technical Reports Related to Kuwait, make Kuwait Industry builds on ASHRAE Standards by providing new Standards related to Kuwait and come up with a published technical report to help Engineers in their design work.
